What to Consider After Revision Rhinoplasty

What Needs to Be Done Before Revision Surgery

Revision surgery is performed for patients who do not achieve the desired results from rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is primarily applied to patients who have undergone aesthetic surgery but have problems with their nose shape, and it can also be applied to patients who have never had aesthetic surgery.

What to Do During the Recovery Process After the Operation

Patients must stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and consuming caffeine one week in advance. Eating and drinking should be stopped 6 hours before the operation. Patients should wear appropriate clothing to be comfortable during and after the operation. Ice compresses should be applied to the area after the operation. Four days after the operation, perforated silicone is given to allow the patient to breathe. As with all rhinoplasty surgeries, bruising and swelling in the facial area may be seen after revision rhinoplasty. This swelling and bruising will pass within 2-3 days. Tampons, splints, and tapes attached to the nose are removed one week later under the supervision of the physician. One of the problems encountered after rhinoplasty is nasal congestion. Nasal congestion will pass over time. Patients who wear glasses should not wear glasses for a while. The frame can cause problems because it touches the nose. Therefore, if glasses must be worn, frameless glasses should be preferred. Sports should not be done for a while.
