What Should Be Included in a Sketch?
A Directional Arrow Should Be Included in Sketches
A sketch is a rough (undimensioned) bird's-eye view of a place drawn on paper. When we hear the word sketch, we think of a guide drawn on paper by eye, used to describe an address, which shows everything visible from a high bird's-eye view. Today, the location sketches of many businesses are available on their websites. This way, people can find the place much more easily. There are some elements that make it easier for them to find it. Sketches are a guide for people to find their direction and destination. Everything is transferred to paper as if on a flat surface, without considering bird's-eye views, heights, slopes, and sinkholes. Directional arrows provide great convenience to people and determine where they need to go. There cannot be a sketch without a directional arrow. These necessary elements are made to help people find places much more comfortably.
Symbols Are Used in Sketches
Sketches do not have a scale. Everything, including lengths, is drawn by eye. A drawing with a scale is not a sketch. The most important feature that distinguishes a sketch from a map is that it is prepared without a scale. A scaled sketch is now a map. Anyone can draw a sketch. When a person asks for directions to an address from someone, they are asked to explain by drawing a sketch. This person draws it by giving rough directions and the names of buildings such as shops, hospitals, mosques, baths, schools that they will encounter. In this process, no measurements were used; it was just a helpful paper to find the destination easily. A directional arrow and a randomly drawn city plan are not sufficient to find the way in sketches. Buildings, petrol stations, shops, schools, etc., on the path taken are drawn with symbols to make it easier to find the destination. A legend showing what they mean makes it easier to understand the sketch because the meaning of the symbols is not always clear in every sketch. With symbols, street, avenue, and neighborhood names are written on the roads in the drawn sketch. These allow people to understand which neighborhood, street, or avenue they are on. Sketches do not cover very large areas. They are mostly eye-drawn representations of small areas. Sketches are not only used when asking for directions to a place outside. In schools, a theater hall, or perhaps a private dining room, who will sit where is drawn as a sketch and hung in a place visible to people. These are created with bird's-eye views and symbols. In addition, a sketch of our room and any place we want can be drawn. Sketch drawing is taught to students in primary school, and everyone knows how to draw.
