Know Your Skin

There are 5 main skin types. The oil your skin produces determines your skin type. The oil production on your skin is affected by genes, diet, stress level, hormonal fluctuations, medication, and skincare.

Skin Types

In oily skin, the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is shiny, and pores in these areas are large. These skin types are prone to blackheads, acne, and pimples. In normal combination skin, the T-zone is slightly oily, and the cheeks are dry. The pore size on the skin is normal. Since the oil balance is normal, it has a smooth texture and a healthy color. Dry skin feels tight after cleansing. Flaking and red spots occur. The skin color may appear dull due to dead skin buildup. Dry skin requires special care. Sensitive skin has small pores and is prone to sensitivity. People with fair skin usually have sensitive skin. This skin type easily reddens in the sun and shows allergic reactions to some cosmetic products. If you have skin prone to blemishes, you likely have sensitive skin.
