General Rules of Billiards

What Not to Do When Playing Billiards

The general rules of billiards vary depending on the specific game. However, there are some actions that are forbidden in all games. For example, you cannot hit the ball while it is in motion. The cue stick's contact with the ball is a single action, and it cannot be repeated for any reason, such as disliking your touch. No one except the referee can touch the balls.

Only the Referee Touches the Ball in Billiards

If you hit the wrong ball, you will not score any points, even if your shot is successful. No part of your body or clothing can touch the balls. You cannot distract your opponent by talking or in any other way while they are about to shoot, and you must never stand up while your opponent is playing. As soon as a ball goes off the table, the game is void, even if it bounces back after hitting the cushions. Chalk must never be left on the table. Additionally, at least one foot must always be touching the floor.
